Air Conditioning

Air Conditioning
Air conditioning is the removal of heat from indoor air for thermal comfort. Air conditioners come in various sizes, cooling capacities and efficiencies. You can enhance the comfort of your home while saving energy when choosing systems with higher seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) and energy efficiency ratio (EER) ratings.

Taking steps to optimize your air conditioners performance will save you money on your utility bills. We offer a wide range of air conditioning systems to accommodate your comfort equation.

Boilers

Boilers
A boiler is a closed vessel in which water or other fluid is heated. Unlike furnaces which generate heated air, boilers transfer water or steam heat to generate indoor warmth. The heated or vaporized fluid exits the boiler for use in different methods or heating applications. The heat is then sent through radiators, baseboards, radiant in-floor tubing or other sealed hydronic devices in your home. Boilers run quietly and they don't use fans or blowers eliminating added dust, dirt and allergens.

ENERGY STAR qualified boilers have annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE) ratings of 85% or greater which can save up to 30% on annual fuel usage. AFUE is the measure of heating equipment efficiency. They achieve greater efficiency with features, including:

Electronic Ignition which eliminates the need to have the pilot light burning all the time.
New Combustion Technologies which extract more heat from the same amount of fuel.
Sealed Combustion which uses outside air to fuel the burner, reducing drafts and improving safety.

Diagnostic Testing, Analysis & Audits

Diagnostic Testing, Analysis & Audits
We are an accredited Building Performance Institute (BPI) and ENERGY STAR company. Our certified technicians will assess your home or project systematically. We will take inventory and report on your current conditions.

We use diagnostic tools during our assessment including the Carbon Monoxide (CO) Analyzer, Blower Door Test, and Duct Leakage Test. Any issues that arise will be addressed.

After your energy audit, you will receive a report listing recommended measures, along with Home Performance with ENERGY STAR (HPwES) and financial incentives available to help you with the recommended improvement work. Federal Tax Credits are now available for energy efficient home improvements.

    Our Testing Includes:

      • Air Sealing Opportunities
      • Insulation Levels
      • Heating System Efficiency
      • Cooling System/Central Air Conditioning Efficiency (if applicable)
      • Domestic Hot Water System Efficiency
      • Overall Comfort Level (cold/hot spots, indoor air quality stuffiness/stale odors)
      • Major Appliances
      • Lighting
      • Health & Safety Check (carbon monoxide levels, moisture, and indoor air quality problems)

There is no better time to upgrade to higher energy efficient systems!

Furnaces

Furnaces
When it comes to heating your home, choosing the best furnace to meet your home's needs is important. Furnaces account for up to 2/3 of your annual energy bill. Out dated furnaces don't meet modern high efficiency furnaces which can be up to 95% fuel efficient.

We will run diagnostic testing and analysis on your furnace to make sure it is not too old, too small or too large to optimize its performance. With high efficiency furnaces you can enhance the comfort of your home while saving energy.

Geothermal

Geothermal
A geothermal furnace is a heat pump that uses the ground you already own to heat and cool the place you live. With a geothermal unit, water is used instead of air as a source of heat gain or loss. Water is pumped through a closed loop of pipes buried in the ground or pumped from a well and discharged into another well or into a pond. In heating mode, heat is extracted from water as it passes through the condenser and released through the evaporator coil. In air conditioning mode, heat is extracted from the evaporator coil and released into water through the condenser.

This is the most efficient way to heat and cool, not to mention - it is environmentally friendly! Also, this system gives you the chance to save up to 70% in energy (heating, cooling, and hot water) costs. The same heat energy can also be used for a radiant floor system or domestic hot water heating.

Hybrid Heat

Hybrid Heat
Hybrid home heating systems offer homeowners a new and more efficient way to heat and cool their homes. A hybrid heat pump system is an air-source heat pump that reacts to changing outdoor temperatures and automatically adjusts to the most efficient method available to heat or cool your home.

Hybrid heating systems use a combination of fossil fuels and electricity. These systems use electric heat pumps during cool weather and furnaces during extreme temperatures. During milder weather, the heat pump transfers heat from the outside air, rather than creating it. For severe winter weather, when the heat pump's capacity drops, due to low outdoor temperature, the forced air furnace kicks in automatically to provide constant heating comfort.

Radiant Heat

Radiant Heat
Radiant heating systems supply heat directly to the floor or to panels in the wall or ceiling of your home. The systems depend on radiant heat transfer: The delivery of heat directly from the hot surface to the people and objects in the room via the radiation of heat, which is also called infrared radiation.

When radiant heating is located in the floor, it is called radiant floor heating. Radiant heat is more efficient than baseboard heating and usually more efficient than forced-air heating because no energy is lost through ducts.

Hydronic (liquid-based) systems use little electricity. The hydronic systems can be heated with a variety of energy sources, including standard gas or oil fired boilers, wood fired boilers, solar water heaters, or some combination of these heat sources.

Solar Hot Water (SHW)

Solar Hot Water
In most cases, a solar hot water system will produce more energy at a substantially lower cost than solar electric systems. Actuality, compared to electric systems, SHW collectors are more than three times as efficient at producing energy from the sun.

Investing in a solar hot water system is a smart solar solution for many homeowners. This proven and reliable technology offers long-term performance with low maintenance. With installing a solar hot water system, estimates for a typical household using electric water heating can shave 60% or more off water heating costs. There are also federal, state, and utility incentives available.

In a "close-coupled" SHW system, the storage tank is horizontally mounted immediately above the solar collectors on the roof. No pumping is required as the hot water naturally rises into the tank through thermosiphon flow.

In a "pump-circulated" system, the storage tank is ground or floor mounted and is below the level of the collectors; a circulating pump moves water or heat transfer fluid between the tank and the collectors.

A well designed system could provide all, or at least a significant amount, of your household hot water needs. To get the most for your money, you'll want a properly sized system that offers the best performance for your environment.
